| What American accent do you have? Your Result: The Midland "You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. | » net neutrality ftw!!! |
Ok some things... well they piss me off... like well republicans getting paid to give the internet service providers (aka ISP) like Comcast, Cox, and Verizon control over the way websites can be accessed over their own networks. FYI the internet is a source of information that is equally dispersed over all computers, you choose where to go of course but that is your choice not your ISP's choice. So what am I talking about? Well the Net Neutraility law that is being wiped out by the House of Representatives. Now this is something that is a pretty big deal, why? Well it is a big deal because it will cause web sites such as Livejournal to pay money to ISPs to function a normal pace. These companies of course couldn't get away with this because as they say "if we were to limit the blogshere communities access then they would just go to another provider." Well that is funny there are usually only two providers in the US Comcast, and Verizon aka cable or DSL. Most other ISPs don't exist everywhere, but they tout that 60% of the Zipcodes have access to 4 ISPs, but well there are people better at describing this then myself so I will let them go at it.

| » For all you Raiders in WoW Learn2read! |
Note: For all those in LJ that are going "WTF" well our guild leader in my guild is asking if we would be up for making it mandatory to raid 3 times a week. Now raids take about 5 hours a day and 20 to 40 people to do. Well I think you will get the point of this after you read
Ok back from work. Now onto the question athand, well personally it isn't bright, not by a long shot. We only have50 people right now and to be perfectly honest this is a raiding guildthat accepts casual raiders. With that schedule you would have tosimple /gkick all of the people who consider themselves casual underthe light that you need them to show up more often. In the end I justhave to disagree with this idea at all. 1 a week is fine, to be aroundfor 2 is do able, but to be ON TIME for 3 is just not going to fly. Ialso have to say I was told I was wanted because I had a greatunderstanding of my class and I give my all for each raid I come to,not because I raid x number of times. That is just insulting.
When you set a requirement down like that then you are doingnothing but saying that someone needs do nothing but show up for 3raids a week. What a drudging way to run one of the most fun guilds Ithink that is around. In the end you would probably loose more membersfor taking this sort of aproach. I'm just observing but more people Isee in this guild want to schedule this game around their life, notvice versa.
I can't stress how much some of us have to work to be able to affordboth food, gas, clothes, and this game, but also maybe some extra moneyto spend with their friends too. To these people, like myself, we can'tafford to simply make 3 raids a week. As stated above, would it be fairto give them pardons for the days they can't make? Not to the peoplewho do make the scarifice, and that is what would happen. People wouldmake a choice between a video game and their normal day life.Personally, if this happened, I know I would be /gkicked because Ican't afford a lifestyle like raiding 3 times a week, I wish I could.
It actually sorta hurts to know that some people just simple don'twant to have you around because your taking up a spot to a virtualevent, where everyone is just trying to find sometime to escape fromthe daily grind, and for what? Another grind? I hope not, I'm herebecause of people, like Mark, Suj, Swiftbow (I spelled it right) if Icould ever see the guy, and Grissum. Why? Because they are friends, they are a part of a community of people here to have some fun.Anyways, I will be here when I can, as often as I can, please don'tlook down on me because I can't do better then that.
Note: This is just a statementI felt would express how I felt about the idea on 3 raid a week beingrequired. This is in no way trying to be offensive on other people'splay style, but more on how they would tend to discriminate based ontime spent in game. I respect everyone's opinions on how they wish toplay this game and I recommend that everyone aim for their own goalsand make this game what they want based on their own wants and needs ofthe game. Thank you for your time.

| » A lot to say |
Well today is starting off sad... I beat KH2 :'( It is all over with now, not saying I'm done persay just finally saw the ending. Since I have only WoW I probably will just play this to perfect it over time hehe.
Well over all I've had an interesting weekend. I got to go to hell cough:New York:cough on Saturday which was well less then horrible. It would have been nice mind you if it wasn't for the freezing weather that I had to endure. Top that off with the fact that the weather caused me to loose my first Christmas present Crystal ever gave me, I will say the experience was just swell, but then I would be lying. :-/
Sunday was nice enough to make up for the previous day by being really really great. Simple term I know but it is the best way to describe how nice a day it was to spend with Crystal. Note: Me and Crystal did have a rough start that morning but everything worked out ok and I learned some more lessons in life's long journey. 2nd Note: Thank you Melissa and Ron for your help, I'm not great at everything and you guys helped out a whole lot. So me and Crystal have signed up for a place and are planning to move in together late August. It will have been 2yrs and 11months of loving and fighting that has gotten us this far, mainly the loving.
With that out of the way I know Crystal would like to have some time outside for a change thanks to the nice weather and me just looking dead sexy =D I kid I kid... We ended up going down to King St. in Old Town Alexandria and walking down the road looking at all the shops. I even helped one of the street performers when his setup was knocked over by the wind and scored a copy of his CD. Nice deal and I took Crystal to a nice restraunt too where we got a very nice balcony seat to see the people walking down the street amongst their own business. Great time indeed.
Things are going pretty good over all soon I will be meeting some of my online friends from WoW down in Atlanta, and maybe getting to go on a tour too. We will see.
Well... I would post more but work got in the way, so here yah go for now.

| » Returning from MMOs |
Damn it GOOFY learn to HOLD AGRO!!! DONALD WTF!!! Stop going OOM!!! Ok OK LISTEN IF WE WIPE YOU ALL WILL LOOSE 50 DKP!!!
Hehe, this was just a thought I had recently while playing Kingdom Hearts 2, which is a blast btw, and it got me to thinking about the sensations I've been feeling after leaving the world of MMOs for a few sparse hours. Now now don't get me wrong, I will never ever actually leave an MMO just that as of now I'm actually playing a game worthy of the time invested.
Back on topic, the first thing I noticed when playing a good game after all the MMO fun was passed me was that I'm all of a sudden by myself. I know what a Borg feels like now, its different, you can laugh and expect someone else who knows what your talking about making a comment, you can't blame a failure at killing a monster on someone else, or feel guilty for thinking it was your fault that your group wiped. Its just you and the game, funny enough its almost peaceful for a brief few hours. You kinda begin to feel that rush of being all boreful, you are the Big badass of the game, not just another cog in the machine, and that is nice. Also the ability to pick up the game at any moment and your just back where you started, nothing has changed and your just going to keep moving forward.
So that is what its been like, Kingdom Hearts has been a rich fun world that has felt like a cruise ship ride in comparison to the MMO grind. I like it, I would never take it over the MMO, but it is a nice distraction ever few months. The nice thing is that when you get a well constructed game like Kingdom Hearts 2 you feel rewarded for getting something right, they have this "context sensitive" action by pushing TRIANGLE that works sometimes for a split second and it allows you to unleash some nice devastating moves. You get treated to a good cut scene and its really cool over all. Its things like these which make you feel really involved in the out come of the whole game, and again its just you so you really begin to feel its all on you. Still its not something I prefer all the time anymore.
I consider it like a good book, something I enjoy doing when the item presents itself, but something you can't see yourself doing with every waking hour. Mainly because you don't have the time, and there just aren't enough really good books out there. None-the-less its still fun. The only thing it doesn't really lend itself to is the same thing that you go to an MMO for, people.
You can play Single player games of all types all the time, but as a human you naturally want to mingle with others that are like you. Even if just to talk about your own little geekyness or whatever floats your boat. Its what hobbies where made for. In the end though a game like Kingdom Hearts 2 or any other offline experience is just a event that I would only do ever so often because, it doesn't really bring everyone together just to do that one game all around each other. Well I guess it can but it that isn't it's design and it would really mean waiting all the time to gather around to complete the mission. Frankly that could be fun, I've done it before, but you might not be comfortable with someone else being in control. How would you work that stuff out anyways, what if you wanna to try at it, what if you could see how to beat that boss but wasn't allowed to. A lot of stuff like that.
So after being a part of the MMO experience for a year and a half now, and I mean really interacting and being a part of it, I think the experience of MMO gaming is something I enjoy because its mingling with others. Everyone there shares your goals, they want to complete the quest and move forward as much as the next person. Its a team experience which I think anyone from any background could respect. There are times when you might wanna do something for yourself, but everyone just wants to work on some team objective. Its something I love to do, and I can always say I was there when me and 39 people beat the crab out of Ragnaros. Soon I will hopefully be there for the day we beat Nefarion, and then C'Thun, I can't wait till Kel'Thuzad finds himself under my boot begging for forgiveness with my allies beside me. You can't always be there but you do want to be a part of what you can.
So thats its isn't it, like all humans we just want to be a part of something big, some people dream of getting in an NFL team and taking them to the Superbowl, the basketball team at GMU now can say, "My team made it to the Final Four!" A boxer and his coach can always say that it was their families and friends continued support that brought them the world title. Like all these examples we all need a break from everyone, books, single player games, movies, or just TV, its all there to take a break from everyone else. Our own escape from an escape sometimes even. I love them both.

A Bit Of Both You are 50% Calvin and 50% Hobbes | Calvin & Hobbes, like a scruffy yin and yang, are in perfect balance within you. Like Calvin, you're weird, a bit insecure, and can be a trouble-maker. But like Hobbes, you're down to earth and sensitive. It's a risk to say it here, after just a ten question test, but I'll bet you're smarter than most. Both Calvin and Hobbes are crafty, clever characters, and any one made from equal parts of each is a force to be reckoned with. | |
My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 51% on calvin | | You scored higher than 30% on hobbes |
